it has been some time that i have been completely moved by a dining experience. dinner at michael warring did just that.
i am slightly jealous of the “two-man show” provided by michael and ali. the whole concept of the restaurant is so special. ad hoc has always been my ideal restaurant concept but michael warring came up with my dream restaurant.
the space, quaint, minimal, warm. prime counter seating with full view is where you want to sit. the kitchen is completly open, yet intimate. where dinner is a show and is executed in the most thoughtful way.
michael, one chef, who prepares your meal ever so honestly right before your eyes. he genuinely appreciates every ooooh and ahhh with every bite of food. where he is honored with every photo that is taken and even will invite you into his kitchen for a close up shot.
ali, one front of house, where you feel immediately welcomed and the warmth of what is to come as soon as you walk in the front door. kwnowledgable, so personable, never obtrusive. where the attention to detail is flawless and you will return to a folded napkin every time.
the menu, is created the day of. the outcome, thoughtful, delightful, delicious.
- salad of local lettuce, walnuts, blackberry coulis, cucumber dust.
- red snapper with housemade cappelini, mushrooms, jalapeno, orange air.
- culotte of beef, balsamic glaze, rouge vif d’etampe- the fanciest pumpkin i’ve ever heard of, and the most thoughtfully placed with tweezers edible flowers.
- ooooo eeeee eeeee eeeee ah ah ah, monkey bread for dessert.
i am a creature of habit when it comes to my napa valley dining. michael warring now solidifies a spot on all my return visits.
dear michael, you signed my menu thank you, but the thanks really goes to you. congratulations on your first restaurant. i wish you much success.
